Many years ago, I convinced a hesitant friend to try online dating thinking I would have someone to commiserate with. Of course, she met someone immediately and they married about a year later. That was the beginning of the end for me with dating apps. I did meet a few nice guys, but rarely anyone I deeply connected with. The entire approach that online dating takes in order to meet people is a turn-off for me. It actually made me less attracted to men I would probably be happy to spend time with under different circumstances. In the end, it made me a lot less focused on my need to be in a relationship at all. I'm still open to the idea of meeting someone special one day, but not really putting in any effort towards that goal anymore online or off.
